چکیده

Phenology is critical to ecosystem carbon quantification, and yet has not been well modeled considering both aboveground and belowground environmental variables. This is especially true for alpine and pan-arctic regions where soil physical conditions play a significant role in determining the timing of phenology. Here we examine how the spatiotemporal pattern of satellite-derived phenology is related to soil physical conditions simulated with a soil physical model on the Tibetan Plateau for the period 1989–2008. Our results show that spatial patterns and temporal trends of phenology are parallel with the corresponding soil physical conditions for different study periods. On average, 1 °C increase in soil temperature advances the start of growing season (SOS) by 4.6 to 9.9 days among Climatic Change DOI 10.1007/s10584-013-0722-7 Electronic supplementary material The online version of this article (doi:10.1007/s10584-013-0722-7) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users. New perspective on spring vegetation phenology and global climate change based on Tibetan Plateau tree-ring data.

Phenological responses of vegetation to climate, in particular to the ongoing warming trend, have received much attention. However, divergent results from the analyses of remote sensing data have been obtained for the Tibetan Plateau (TP), the world's largest high-elevation region. This study provides a perspective on vegetation phenology shifts during 1960-2014, gained using an innovative appr...

Prediction of Soil Salinity Using Neural Network and Multivariate Regression Based on Remote Sensing Indices and Comparison: A Case Study of Qazvin plain's Salt Marsh

Introduction: The spatial and temporal distribution of salts in the soil, the great extent of the Iranian deserts, and the adverse climatic conditions prevailing over them make it difficult to accurately determine the parameters and field measurements in some cases. In the last two decades, the use of field techniques and their combination with remote sensing data has contributed significantly ...

Distribution map of the different lithologic units in loess plateau of eastern Golestan by using remote sensing technique; Aghband research area

Introduction: Along with the climate, Soil is an essential natural resource. Although soil studies in Iran have been started more than 50 years ago, the soil map of the country has not been fully prepared yet, and only 20-25% of the lands have been mapped already. Many soil maps of Iran need to be updated, but the common methods in soil mapping are costly and time-consuming. Hence, using data o...

Asphalt Pavement Performance Model of Airport Using Microwave Remote Sensing Satellite

The purpose of this study is to build the binary logit model of an airport pavement that could monitor the pavement condition in near real time using microwave remote sensing satellite, then the relationship between the international roughness index (IRI) of an airport and backscattering values from PALSAR images of the ALOS satellite was determined. Total 390 data were used in analysis. This m...
